Do you think you are an ordinary family? We don't and I am sure you don't either. You may not have been told about the royals, the black sheep, or the war heroes. Those stories may still be in grandma's attic, or in the family Bible, as it was for the beginning of my sister's genealogy quest. Now, fifteen years later, I am in over my head as well with genealogy research.

She has become an avid researcher in many areas as she worked to unlock the doors to the past. She made it all the way back to the 1650's in Santa Fe, New Mexico, or Mexico as it was at that time. Unfortunately, this is only my mother's history. We have completed a DNA study as well, which jumps ahead to our maternal family line evolving from Eurasia. My father's side, Falcon, is still in the 1700 in Zacatecas, Mexico, waiting to be unraveled. The DNA results on the paternal side evolved in the Middle East. The saga awaits her return where she left off a few years ago, maybe this summer, hiding in LDS files or online somewhere, waiting to be found.

I, on the other hand, am looking into my husband's family, also in Mexico. It has been very interesting and exciting, heartbreaking and always fascinating to trace their footsteps from Guanajuato, and Jalisco to the USA. As we always say, they just came over a footbridge, maybe a little swimming, although I have not actually seen this kind of documentation. The families I am researching are: Becerra in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco; Alcaraz somewhere in Jalisco or Guanajuato,Mexico; Marquez in Guanajuato, Mexico, (that was a mouthful).

I am affiliated with the Family History Society of Arizona, which has taken more of my time and interest than my personal research, and a full-time work schedule doesn't help! I hope to get back to my research and help my sis do some digging on our father.

I hope to hear from my family and yours. WE MAY BE RELATED or we may be able to unlock another door or tear down a brick wall together. Have a great day and make someone else one too.
